Once It's There It's There...
Social Media, don't you just love it? Posting your entire life in a couple of sentences or a picture of your best family moments. Never seems to be a dull moment for some people however once it's there it is there. People half the time can't remember what they had for breakfast yesterday but post "social media" and it is talked about for days and if you are lucky weeks.
Then there are the occasional posts that you wish you never saw. I mean is not even about being confident (some show more then they should), but to me, it is showing lack of respect for yourself. How is this going to get you to the next level in your life? Women want to be viewed as strong, respected, intelligent individuals who still fight every day for equality (unfortunately, no offense to my men, it is still a man's world). Of course not because all men think this way, but it's just the way society still views women as a whole. So, when I a see a woman of good moral character put pictures out there that are questionable in nature I think, "Honey, yes you are all that and more, but would your mother approve? One day when you are married with kids will they say my mom was hot?"
Then there are those pictures that are never published but sent directly to people in direct messages. Well, let's just say you never want those to get out because as Ricky Ricardo would say, "Lucy, you have some explaining to do?" (I love that show, by the way, LOL) I remind my son daily, "Don't send anyone anything you would be afraid for me to see or your father. You think you can trust people with this type of stuff but really you can't. One day you piss them off and boom, there goes your life in a flash, on social media, for the entire world to see. Oh, won't your family be proud, NOT!!!!" You can't take it back and now for the rest of your life you are explaining to your family, your friends, your kids, and maybe your employer why at 15, 20, 30, etc., you decided to take those photos and share them with whoever was in your contact list because you were not thinking clearly. Aww yes, I am sure it will be displayed proudly when you are named "Employee of the Month", again NOT!!!!!!!!!
So my advice, for what it is worth, to the younger and some older generations, don't be so social media happy. Keep the mystery of your life in check and get out and enjoy your life. Read a book, take a walk, go to the gym, whatever works for you. Many people on your social media timelines are interested in seeing what you are up to but maybe not so much of you, if you know what I mean..
