Protect the Innocent
I remember Sandy Hook. Jeffrey was in 3rd grade. I remember calling the school to ask if the kids were protected? Have they locked down the school? Was my son safe? Should I come and get him? The incident happened 10 hours away from Virginia but if it happened In Connecticut it could happen anywhere.
Now 10 years later we are facing another shooting. 19 children, babies who had the rest of their life to live, the excitement of summer break, swimming, friends, sleep overs, gone. They will never experience the joy of getting their drivers license, graduation, their first love, and to experience life. Why, because no one wants to change laws to protect people who don’t have the means to protect themselves. You can’t say sorry to families who have lost today their most precious gift if you are not willing to stand up and fight for rights and to change the system that is broken.
We are the only country in this world who has mass shootings at schools, supermarkets, movie theaters, shopping malls, concerts, etc., and why is that? Because law markers feel the “Right to Bare Arms” is more important than changing the law. It’s infringing on Americans rights? However, the government feels they have the right to take away woman’s rights, LGBTQ+ rights and poke holes in matters that don’t involve a GUN. We need these leaders to step up and stop the violence. Do something that is going to save lives, make a difference, do what you were elected to do and stop taking up space in a seat.
