Chance Meeting

Today was eye opening.  I fly to Alabama to meet up with my BP sisters.  Along this journey I met a woman who reminded me so much of my mother and grandmother.  Her name was Sherrie.  She was traveling from Richmond to Tallahassee for a weekend wedding.  She like me is not a fan of flying.  Our chance meeting came early this morning when she asked me about her baggage prepay to setting next to each other from Richmond to Charlotte.  We had so much common.  She sold jewelry years ago, her son lives in Staunton and works for Capital One and list went on and on.

Her biggest worry was getting to her next gate.  We landed in terminal C and had to make it to E.  We were late leaving Richmond by 30 minutes and delayed once again getting off the plane.  Time was ticking for both of us to meet our connecting flight.

We got off the plane and headed to the terminal E.  It was crowded and no one was letting us move.  I told her if we got separated just keeping following the signs to Terminal E and her gate.

As we started towards E I felt and large mass hit me in the back followed by smack.  Sherrie had tripped and landed flat on her face.  Her luggage had gone one way she the other.  Thank goddess for Good Samaritans because they flocked to her aide while I went for help.  Quickly there was a wheelchair and paramedics at her side.  I didn’t want to leave her but she insisted I go and she would be fine.  I left sobbing as I made it to my flight, boarding the plane eyes red, nose running, a complete mess.

I got enough info to find her son, next week through my Capital One family, and follow up with him on his mom.  I even got enough about her to follow up with her.

Sherrie, you touched my heart today with your generous spirit and authentic kindness.  We will talk again soon.  I pray 🙏 you got safely to Tallahassee and will enjoy the beautiful wedding.
